Cold Chisel Prove Why Grand Final Talent Should Be Australian

Cold Chisel’s brilliant performance at the NRL Grand Final in Sydney was the perfect example of what the AFL Grand Final in Melbourne did so horribly wrong.

Chisel performed three iconic Australian anthems and articulated the mood of the crowd while the day before in Melbourne football fans were treated to irrelevant performances from Ellie Goulding, Bryan Adams and Chris Isaak.

The AFL for too long has ignored the core audience and gone for glam.
In choosing a Grand Final act a pretty good rule of thumb is if Triple M won’t play, don’t book it.

Goulding’s placement was wrong long before she missed the start of her biggest song. While earlier suggestions that Goulding was miming were incorrect, she did perform to backing tapes. Chisel played every note live.

Adams and Isaak? Well just why?

Grand Final Day is a uniquely Australian day. Importing talent does not fit with the sentiment.
